Analyzing Eagles’ Offseason Moves

Let’s start with the positive, for a change. In my opinion, and I don’t know if, and say this, Howie Roseman has made two good selections in free agency by acquiring CJ Gardner-Johnson and Devin White. Both are playmakers, which is what the Eagles must have at every position they try to fill.

While Saquon Barkley is indeed a playmaker, I think that here Howie Roseman‘s ego got the best of him. As usual, he is trying to show he is the smartest guy in the room, to compensate for the gut-wrenching blow that his ego took last season. He should’ve been fired for hiring Sani and the assistants that he did. Also, he should’ve been fired for leaving the Eagles vulnerable at linebacker and safety, which negated the great pass rush that they have from their front four.

Roseman signed Barkley for twice the salary that they could’ve had DeAndre Swift for. I don’t think that Barkley is twice the player that Swift is, if at all the player that Swift is. Swift was also a playmaker and had a great streak last season. Barkley is injured too often and is a big risk.
