Can the Eagles Defense Hold Up?

Why is a head coach of the Philadelphia eagles going on sports talk radio to defend his defensive coordinator? Gannon’s product should be the defense. Unfortunately, for most of this season, it hasn’t been a very good product. Against decent quarterbacks, couldn’t get off the field on third down. Too timid an approach for the defensive backs. They play too far off the ball and don’t contest the catch enough. Don’t be misled by the sack total. Those sacks were mostly on first and second down. The Eagles are right near the bottom of the NFL in opponents fourth down conversions. Is that a good defense?

I think that Sirianni going on the show shows a Hidden insecurity, but he and probably the rest of the staff have regarding Gannon’s ability to defend against a good quarterback. In the words of Shakespeare, “methinks the lady (no insult to Sirianni intended) doth protest too much”
