When I heard that the Eagles had signed Julio Jones, I thought, "Are they planning to convert him to a DB?" Then I thought, "Perhaps as a wide receivers coach?" But when I realized they wanted him as a wide receiver, I thought, "Well, as Mike Sielsky said in his insightful article in The Inquirer today, he can be a situational player, and no situation is screaming for help like the red zone offense right now. Having Julio Jones on one side, AJ Brown on the other, and Devonta Smith in the middle, with Goedert roaming around, would truly be a nightmare. Jones doesn't have to be in great shape; he just has to be able to run 15 or 20 yards and cut once.
Of course, then I sit back and say, Brian Johnson already has a loaded toolbox when it comes to offense, and he can't effectively use it. What makes the Eagles think that one more valuable tool is going to help?
Let's see how this all plays out, however.
