As a long-time Philadelphia fan, I'm starting to feel nervous. Nobody has explicitly mentioned it, but the Phillies seem to lack a reliable closer. This has to change by September 1st and heading into October if they make the playoffs. Lorenzen might be an option – if his arm isn't fatigued from throwing 124 pitches, he did handle pressure well in the eighth and ninth innings of his no-hitter with a high pitch count. Just imagine what he could achieve if he were fresh! Sanchez is also in consideration. And what about Vasquez? He displayed some promise.

Turning to the Eagles, I read Jeff McLean's daily practice impressions. One sentence troubled me, particularly concerning the defense – he noted they surrendered many completions and appeared disorganized. If this isn't a hint towards "Gannon," I'm not sure what is. Let's hope the defense, despite its talent, can't be exploited by top-notch quarterbacks. The schedule is tougher, and we'll be facing more of them. Scoring 35 points every week is a big ask for the offense.
