The Eagles Are In Trouble!

The Eagles are in trouble. As Jeff McLean sagely points out in his article in the inquirer, Jonathan Gannon’s runs the same Vic Fangio Defense as the Minnesota, defensive coordinator, whose defense, Daniel Jones just torched.
As many have noted, Daniel Jones has made huge progress, the second half of the season, and will now be the best quarterback that the Eagles have faced this season. And he runs, no less. In a shoot out, as has also been noted, who knows if Jalen hurts shoulder can hold up if he needs to throw 55 times to keep up with Jones?
And the Eagles have the biggest injury‘s at, arguably, their two most important positions: quarterback, and right tackle. Everyone sees the warrior in Hurts and Lane Johnson, but if they are hurt, they’re hurt and they will have to leave the game for less than spectacular substitutes.
The others, see it differently, I have not been impressed with Nick Sirianni‘s grasp of reality. His defense is routinely torched when the opposing teams offense gets the ball first in a game. Torched to the extent of a touchdown. Yet he continues, when he wins the coin to us, to elect to defend, and put the defense in harms way again.
The number of offensive penalties have been horrible to watch. Agonizing really because and I don’t know if it’s just me, every penalty seems to call back a touchdown, or a long game, and the penalty seem to be away from the ball and irrelevant. These many penalties, it has often been said, or a sign of bad coaching. Siri and he hast to tell the troops before the game the same thing that we’ve Eubank told the Jets before, facing the heavily favored colts in the Super Bowl: gentleman, poise, and execution.
The offense to frequently seemed to lack poise. This may be a reflection of the coach, himself, and in a tightly contested game, it could make the difference. Remember, in the playoffs, as in the NCAA’s, basketball and football, the team, with the most talent does not always win.
